সাধারণত একাধিক দ্বীপ নিয়ে গঠিত রাষ্ট্র (the Philipines, the Maldives), অফিসিয়ালভাবে দেশের নামের সাথে সরাসরি The' বা 'Kind of State' the republic, the kingdom, the union ইত্যাদি ('The Bahamas, the United Kingdom) শব্দ যুক্ত রাষ্ট্র এবং ভৌগোলিক বৈশিষ্ট্যে রাখা রাষ্ট্রের (The Yemen) নামের পূর্বে the ব্যবহৃত হয়।
